About us

At the Swedish School in Vienna, we offer a unique Scandinavian educational approach in small teaching groups with a high teacher-to-student ratio. Our school provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where children learn and grow together in a safe, calm setting.

With a modern team-teaching approach, lessons are conducted in both Swedish and German by qualified teachers and native speakers. The English language is also integrated into lessons as well as our after-school care program. Throughout the year, we celebrate both Swedish and Austrian traditions as well as participate in cultural events from both countries, enriching our students' understanding of diverse heritages. The languages and cultures represented at our school are key components of our pedagogy.

Founded in 1986, the Swedish School in Vienna is a private Swedish international school that includes a Kindergarten, Preschool Class, Elementary School, and Supplementary Swedish Education. While we follow the Swedish curriculum, our school welcomes children of all nationalities. We are proud to have a diverse student body representing various cultures. Our school holds Öffentlichkeitsrecht, meaning our activities are officially recognized by the Austrian state.

Located in a beautiful villa in scenic Grinzing, in northwest Vienna, our campus is surrounded by green spaces, parks, and the vineyards of Vienna’s Wienerwald. The rich cultural offerings of Vienna, including museums, music, and theater, are seamlessly integrated into our teaching, providing students with a well-rounded and vibrant education.
